Ben & April 6-5-09
This Saturday we were out at Shadow Lake for Ben and Aprils Wedding Reception. This was a rather small Wedding with a majority of the guests being close friends and family with April and Ben but it certainly didn’t harbor any of the fun that we had.
The evening started off with mulit-song Grand Entrances, consisting of 15 songs for the Parents, Flower girls, Ring bearer and Wedding Party. We then transitioned into the song “Way back in to love” by Hugh Grant. April and Ben chose to sing the first half of the song and then had me transition from the karaoke version into the original, where they finished off with a dance. At the end of their first dance, we slammed it in to “Freestyler” by Bombfunk MC’s. Ben and April had choreographed a dance to this. The guests all got in to it pretty heavy and offered up a big round of applause when we ended with a bomb explosion sound effect. It was a pretty fun change-up from a traditional first dance.

After the first dance, Ben grabbed the microphone and had a nice reading for his parents, ending it with an invite for his Mother to join him on the dance floor for their Mother and Son dance.

After the Mother/Son dance, we went right in to the Father/Daughter dance. We saved this one for last as April had us to a voice-over for her parents. She danced with her Father to Kenny Rogers – Through the Years w/ her voice laid over the musical parts of the song.

After parent dances, we went right in to toasts, a blessing and dinner.
As we neared the end of dinner, we entertained the guests with a centerpiece giveaway game and then moved in to open dance.
Ben and April had us provide them with uplighting, taking on alternating colors of blue and purple, and also a static name in lights monogram that I was fortunate to find a good place for where I could leave it up all night.
This Reception was a lot of fun and I had a great time getting to know Ben and April throughout the course of our planning.
