Suny ESF 12-05-08
Friday night brought us out to the Genesee Grand Hotel for the Winter Soiree for Suny ESF. These guys are a lot of fun to entertain. I did there Spring Banquet earlier this year and we had a blast at that one as well. The evening runs pretty smooth and simple with a Welcoming, a few speeches, dinner, a short award ceremony and a great dance party after that.
I have a few pictures of the Award Ceremony but most of the images are dancing, as that’s what we did for the majority of the evening. About 270 Students, Parents and Faculty were in attendance and the dance floor was quite undersized for the amount of dancers we had. It made no difference! We packed everyone on there and had a blast for the entire evening.
The Set-up
We came prepared with 3 Mackie SRM450’s, 2 Mackie 1801 Mackie subs, moving heads and more. However once we arrived at the venue, we realized that it would have been way too much for this room. Therefore, in order to keep things elegant for the formal part of the event, we opted to run with the truss set-up and only run 2 Mackies and a single sub. It was more then enough sound as at one point during the evening, I was asked to turn the music down a notch by the venue staff.

After the Awards, we entered our open dance portion of the evening. This carried us from about 8:15 – 11:30pm.
The girls below requested some line-dancing country songs. Problem was, there was no room left on the dance floor for line dancing, so they moved over next to my dj table.
We had a great time last night. This is the second event we’ve done for them and are looking forward to providing entertainment for them in the future. These guys are always a well mannered group and respectful group of students and the party is always a blast!
